About this bottle
Laphroaig Quarter Cask takes the distillery's famously peaty, medicinal Islay spirit and finishes it in small quarter casks — about a quarter the size of a standard barrel, a size the distillery actually used historically before switching to full barrels for efficiency. Smaller casks mean more surface contact between the whisky and the wood relative to volume, which pulls in extra vanilla and sweet oak faster than standard maturation. The result softens Laphroaig's aggressive peat smoke just slightly and adds a sweeter, spicier layer, without losing the intense, iodine-and-bandage character the distillery is known for. Bottled at 48%, no age statement.
