Mastic Tears Dry Mastiha Spirit 700ml

Mastic Tears Dry is a Greek mastiha spirit flavoured with the resin of the mastic tree, which grows commercially only on the island of Chios. The resin is harvested as droplets, the tears in the name, and it gives the drink a flavour with no real equivalent anywhere else: pine, cedar and a cool herbal sweetness somewhere near eucalyptus. The dry bottling keeps sugar low, so the resin leads rather than the syrup. The palate is clean and lightly sweet with white pepper and fennel, and the finish is long, resinous and cooling. Serve it very cold in a small glass after a meal, or over ice with tonic and a lemon twist.
