Midnight Moon Blackberry comes from Piedmont Distillers in North Carolina, the company co-founded by NASCAR legend Junior Johnson, built on the same triple-distilled corn spirit base as the rest of the Midnight Moon line before real blackberry flavor is steeped in. It's deep purple in color and tart-sweet rather than heavily sugared, closer to a fruit brandy than a syrupy liqueur. At 40 proof it's gentler than standard whiskey, which keeps the corn spirit from overwhelming the fruit. A solid choice for drinkers who want fruit-forward flavor without the higher proof of a straight whiskey.
