Old Elk Sour Mash Old Batch 1 750ml

Old Elk Sour Mash Batch 1 is the first release in a series from the Fort Collins distillery, made using the sour mash method, where spent mash from one fermentation is carried into the next to control acidity and hold the house character steady from run to run. Old Elk also mashes slowly and distils at a low proof, and both choices leave more of the grain in the glass. The nose is warm bread, caramel and orchard fruit; the palate carries vanilla, cinnamon and a nutty, toasted-grain sweetness; the finish is medium and gently spiced. Drink it neat to read the batch, or build an old fashioned with a wide orange peel.
