Pendleton Armed Forces is a limited annual edition of Pendleton Canadian whisky, bottled as a tribute to American service members and dressed in a label that changes each year. Pendleton is blended in Hood River, Oregon from Canadian whisky and glacier-fed water, and the house style is deliberately smooth rather than assertive. The nose is soft caramel and vanilla, the palate carries butterscotch, baked apple and a light rye spice, and the finish is short, sweet and clean. This is a bottle that gets poured at gatherings rather than dissected, so treat it that way: neat, over ice, or lengthened with cola or ginger ale.
