Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho Black 750ml

Koncho & Co Black is a dark Georgian red made in qvevri, the clay vessels buried in the cellar floor that Georgian winemakers have used for thousands of years. Fermenting underground in clay rather than steel gives these wines a particular texture: earthier, more savoury, with tannin that feels like part of the fruit rather than an addition. The nose is blackberry, damson and dried herbs with a smoky earth note, the palate carries dark fruit and liquorice over firm tannin and bright acidity, and the finish is long and savoury with a peppery edge. Open it an hour early and pour it with grilled lamb or beef.
