About this bottle
Mtsvivani Kakhuri is one of the rare Kakhetian white grapes that survived the Soviet push toward a handful of high-yielding varieties, and it is now grown by a small number of Georgian producers rebuilding the country's native plantings. Bottling it on its own is as much preservation work as winemaking. The nose is ripe pear and dried herbs with a honeyed floral lift, the palate is dry with orchard fruit, citrus pith and a gentle grip across the middle, and the finish is medium and softly nutty. Serve it cool with roast chicken, vegetable dishes finished with walnut, or a plate of young cheese and herbs.
