Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho Red 750ml

Koncho & Co Red is a Georgian red made in qvevri, the buried clay amphorae that give the country's wines their particular earthy grip. Georgian reds sit somewhere between the fruit of the New World and the savoury structure of old-school Europe, and this one holds that middle ground. The nose is ripe cherry and plum with dried herbs behind it, the palate brings red and black fruit around a stony core with fine tannin and fresh acidity, and the finish is clean and gently savoury. It is an easier, more everyday bottle than the appellation wines. Pour it with grilled meat, tomato-heavy dishes or a plate of khachapuri.
