Rhum J.M Atelier Fumée Volcanique is a Martinique agricole rhum, distilled from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice rather than molasses at the distillery on the slopes of Mount Pelée, where volcanic soil shapes the cane. Each Atelier bottling chases a single aromatic direction, and this one leans into smoke: a nose of warm ash, dried herbs and cane syrup, a palate that runs grilled pineapple, black pepper and a resinous campfire edge, then a long dry finish where the smoke outlasts the sweetness. Sip it neat from a tulip glass to follow that arc, or pour it into a Ti Punch with lime and a little cane syrup.
