Rum Malecon Reserva Superior Genuinely Aged Rum 12 year 750 ml

Malecon Reserva Superior 12 Year is a Panamanian rum aged in the tropics, where heat pushes spirit in and out of the wood far faster than it would in a cooler climate, so twelve years here reads much older on the palate. It is a molasses-based, column-distilled rum in the softer Spanish-speaking Caribbean style rather than a dry, funky one. The nose is vanilla, banana bread and toasted coconut. The palate is round and sweet-edged, with caramel, dried fig, a little cocoa and cinnamon. The finish is warm, medium-length and faintly oaky. Good neat over a big cube, and sturdy enough to carry an old fashioned built with rum instead of whiskey.
