Saltwater Woody Real Coconut Rum is an American coconut rum built on a light rum base, and the label's emphasis on real coconut is the point: this leans less candied than the confectionery style the category is known for. The nose is fresh coconut meat and vanilla with a little toasted sugar. The palate is soft and mid-sweet, with coconut cream, cane sugar and a touch of banana, lighter on the tongue than most coconut rums so the spirit still shows through. The finish is short, clean and faintly nutty. This belongs in a tall glass: pineapple juice over ice, a splash into a pina colada, or simply soda and lime.
