Tequila Corazon Expresiones Weller CYPB Reposado 750 ml

This is the Expresiones del Corazón series, in which Casa San Matías fills tequila into barrels shipped straight from Buffalo Trace — in this case the ones that held Weller C.Y.P.B., a wheated bourbon. Wheat in the bourbon mash means the barrel gives back roundness rather than rye pepper, and the reposado picks that up: cooked agave and honeyed bread on the nose, soft caramel and dark cherry over roasted agave on the palate, then a rounded, gently sweet finish with light oak and a peppery lift at the very end. Drink it neat beside the bourbon that seasoned the wood, or over one big cube.
