About this bottle

Ocho Añejo is single-estate añejo tequila from the Camarena family's highland agave fields around Arandas, Jalisco. Tequila Ocho built its reputation on a simple, radical idea: every release comes from one field, with the ranch and harvest year printed on the label, so the tequila tastes like the place it grew. The añejo rests one year in ex-American whiskey barrels — long enough to gather dark cacao, coffee, nutmeg, and salted caramel, short enough that cooked agave still leads. Black tea and pepper open the nose, and a buttery mouthfeel carries a long peppery finish. Bottled at 40% ABV. Pour it neat for the bourbon drinker ready to take agave seriously.

How to drink Ocho Añejo

Pour it neat in a rocks glass and treat it like a young bourbon — the buttery mouthfeel and cacao notes don't need lime or salt to work. A good pick for a whiskey drinker's first serious añejo.

Questions about this bottle

What's the best way to serve Añejo Single Estate?

Serve it at room temperature in a tequila glass or small tumbler, not ice-cold — chilling mutes the agave character.

What cocktails work well with Añejo Single Estate?

Its oak and caramel notes make it a good fit for a Tequila Old Fashioned, though it's also poured neat.

What does 'single estate' mean for Tequila Ocho?

The agave is grown on a single named estate or field and is often vintage-dated by harvest year — unusual transparency for tequila, closer to how wine is labeled.

Who produces Tequila Ocho?

The Camarena family, at La Alteña Distillery in Arandas — the same family and distillery behind El Tesoro, with generations of agave-growing and distilling experience in the Jalisco Highlands.
