About this bottle
The Deacon is a blended Scotch whisky from Ian Macleod Distillers, named after Edinburgh's legendary Deacon Brodie, the respectable cabinetmaker by day who inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's Jekyll and Hyde. The blend combines malt and grain whiskies matured in a mix of casks, finished with a small proportion of whisky rested in casks that previously held Bourbon and sherry, aimed at an approachable, mixable style rather than a peaty showpiece. Expect a light, sweet profile with honey, vanilla, and soft oak, built for easy sipping or a simple highball. It's a solid everyday blended Scotch rather than a collector's dram.
How to drink The Deacon
It's a natural fit for a Scotch and soda or ginger ale highball, letting the honeyed sweetness carry through the dilution. Neat over ice works fine too for a lower-key pour.
