This GlenAllachie is a single cask release distilled in 2009 and matured in a PX (Pedro Ximénez) sherry puncheon, part of the Speyside distillery's broader push into heavily sherry-influenced whisky since Billy Walker's ownership group took over in 2017. PX casks are some of the sweetest, richest sherry wood available, and it shows: expect dark dried fruit, treacle, and Christmas cake spice layered over the distillery's usual honeyed, orchard-fruit new make character. Like the rest of GlenAllachie's core range, it's bottled without chill filtration or added color, keeping the whisky's natural texture and oils intact.
