The Hampden Estate The Maverick Old Singe Jamaican Rum 700 ml
About this bottle
The Hampden Estate Maverick is a Jamaican rum from the Trelawny estate that has been distilling since 1753 and never stopped doing it the hard way: long open fermentations with dunder and muck, double retort pot stills, and nothing added to the rum afterward. Hampden is the reference point for high-ester Jamaican funk, and this bottling does not hide from it. The nose arrives loud with overripe banana, pineapple, varnish and green olive brine; the palate is oily and intense, with tropical fruit, wood smoke and a saline mineral streak; the finish is long, dry and peppery. Sip it neat in small measures, or let a little transform a Daiquiri.
