About this bottle
Koshi No Shinobu Pure Malt Mizunara 10 Year is the age-stated version of the distillery's Mizunara-matured malt whisky, made from 100% malt whisky and aged a full decade in the rare, incense-scented Japanese oak. Koshi No Shinobu operates out of Niigata, a region better known for sake and shochu, and this longer maturation gives the Mizunara oak's sandalwood and spice character more time to fully integrate into the spirit compared to the non-age-stated version. Expect a deep, rich whisky with oak, vanilla, and spice built up over ten years, finishing smooth and long. It's a step up for drinkers who already enjoy the standard Pure Malt Mizunara.
How to drink Koshi No Shinobu Pure Malt Mizunara 10 Year
Neat is the way to appreciate a full decade of Mizunara oak influence — this isn't a whisky to dilute. A few drops of water can help if the spice feels concentrated at first sip.
