The Lost Explorer Mezcal Reserva del Maestro Madre Cuishe 750ml

The Lost Explorer Reserva del Maestro Madre Cuishe is made from Madre Cuishe, a tall wild agave that grows slowly in the Oaxacan hills and takes well over a decade to mature before it can be harvested. Wild agave costs patience, and it shows in the glass: this drinks leaner and more mineral than espadín, with the vegetal side of the plant pushed forward. The nose is green pepper, wet stone and light smoke; the palate is roasted agave, cucumber skin, white pepper and fresh herbs; the finish is dry, mineral and long. Serve it neat at room temperature in a copita, with orange and sal de gusano alongside.
