Volans Tequila Anejo 750ml

Volans Añejo is an additive-free tequila from Jalisco, bottled without the sweeteners, colouring or glycerin that many aged tequilas lean on. That matters most in the añejo category, where additives and heavy oak can crowd out the agave; here the barrel plays a supporting role instead of the lead. The nose gives cooked agave, vanilla and dried fruit; the palate runs to caramel, roasted nuts and baking spice with the agave still clearly legible underneath; the finish is long, dry and gently oaked rather than sugary. It rewards a slow pour and a warm glass. Drink it neat in a copita, or over a single large cube after a meal.
