Woodford triple distils in copper pot stills at the Versailles distillery and matures in heavily toasted, charred oak, so the extra strength arrives with weight rather than heat alone. The nose is dense with dark cherry, orange oil and toasted nuts. The palate turns thick and syrupy, running caramel, baking spice and dark chocolate across the tongue, and the finish is long on oak and cocoa. Take it neat in a small pour first, then add a few drops of water and watch the fruit open up.
