From the family-owned Willett Distillery in Bardstown — a cult name with some of the most sought-after bottles in all of bourbon — comes the long-awaited everyday expression of the legendary "purple top" Family Estate label. This is the latest result of Willett's effort to resurrect its own on-site distillation, shepherded by fifth-generation distiller Drew Kulsveen — an affordable, accessible entry point into a portfolio whose rarefied single barrels command eye-popping secondary prices.

Like the cult Small Batch Family Estate Rye that came before it, this is a four-year-old small batch blend bottled at cask strength — and the recipe is a genuine departure from the high-corn norm. It's a commingling of two house mash bills: roughly 30% of Willett's original bourbon recipe (72% corn, 13% rye, 15% barley) blended with 70% of their high-rye mashbill (52% corn, 38% rye, 10% barley), making this a notably rye-forward, structured bourbon. Around 50 barrels are hand-selected and mingled per batch, then released unfiltered at full barrel proof. 

Expect a bold, expressive pour: top notes of wintergreen and bright baking spice — fresh cinnamon and clove — bloom in the glass, laced with sweet citrus, giving way over time to warm caramel candy and vanilla frosting. The palate carries that punchy rye spice into a long, warming, cask-strength finish.
