About this bottle
El Jolgorio Tepeztate is a mezcal made from wild Tepeztate agave (Agave marmorata), one of the slowest-maturing agaves used in mezcal production, harvested from rugged, high-altitude terrain around Oaxaca. Production follows traditional methods: agave hearts roasted in earthen pits, crushed by stone mill, fermented naturally in open-air vats, then distilled in copper pot stills. The result is a joven mezcal with a notably vegetal, herbal character, green pepper and citrus on the nose, spicy green vegetables and stone fruit on the palate, closing with white pepper heat and a briny minerality. It's built for mezcal drinkers chasing the wilder, more intense end of the category rather than a smooth introduction to it.
How to drink El Jolgorio Tepeztate
Sip it neat, in small pours, at room temperature, a copita or tulip glass concentrates the herbal aromatics without cooking them off. This is an intense, wild-agave mezcal best appreciated on its own rather than buried in a mixer.

Questions about this bottle
How should El Jolgorio Tepeztate be served?
Like most artisanal mezcal, it's meant to be sipped neat in small pours at room temperature, ideally from a copita or tulip-shaped glass.
What is Tepeztate agave?
Tepeztate (Agave marmorata) is a wild agave that grows in rugged, high-altitude terrain and is one of the slowest-maturing agaves used in mezcal, giving the finished spirit an intensely vegetal, herbal, mineral character.
Who makes El Jolgorio Tepeztate?
El Jolgorio isn't a single distillery - it's a mezcal project that works with multiple traditional mezcaleros across several Oaxacan villages, so the exact producer can vary by batch.
