About this bottle
Martell L'Or de Jean Martell sits above Martell's entire age-statement range — no VS, VSOP, or XO label applies here, because this blend draws on eaux-de-vie averaging 60 years old, some over a century, pulled in part from the house's Le Paradis cellar. It's built from more than 700 rare eaux-de-vie sourced from Grande Champagne and Borderies, the two crus that carry Martell's longest-aging spirits. What that much age brings is density: dried fruit, old leather, and a rancio depth that a younger cognac simply can't reach. This is a collector's cognac before it's a drinking one. Pour it neat, in a tulip glass, and give it real time to open.
