About this bottle
Rare Hare 1953 is a 17-year-old straight bourbon finished in Cognac casks from France's Champagne region, bottled at 111 proof. It anchors the Rare Hare collection from Playboy Spirits, released as a 1953 anniversary edition and named for the year the brand's rabbit first appeared. The extra-aged bourbon carries maturity and dried fruit on the nose, with caramelized nectarine and a note of clove. The palate runs medium-bodied and layered — creamed corn and light herbs give way to soft oak and baking spice, and the French cask time rounds the edges. Caramel and nutmeg stretch across a long finish. An older, dressed-up pour for the collector who wants something to sip slowly and talk about.
