Fidencio Reposado Mezcal 750ml

Fidencio Reposado is an espadin mezcal from Santiago Matatlan that has been rested in oak, which is uncommon in a category that mostly bottles its spirit clear and young. The wood does not take over here — it rounds off the edges of the smoke and lays a thin layer of vanilla and caramel over the roasted agave underneath. The nose is cooked agave, smoke and light oak; the palate brings toffee, dried fruit and a pepper lift; the finish is warm and gently sweet. It is a useful bridge for whiskey drinkers making their first move into agave. Drink it neat, or stir it into an agave old fashioned.
