Dona Loca Mezcal Tobala 375 ml

Dona Loca Tobala is an Oaxacan mezcal made from tobala, a small wild agave that grows in shade at altitude and takes far longer to mature than cultivated espadin. It also yields very little per plant, which is why tobala bottlings tend to be small runs. The style is the plush end of mezcal: the nose is tropical fruit, honeysuckle and light woodsmoke, the palate is mango and stone fruit with cocoa nib over a soft mineral core, and the finish stays sweet and floral as the smoke fades. This 375ml is a fair-sized pour of a scarce agave. Drink it neat, slowly, at room temperature.
