About this bottle
Santo Gusano Reposado is an aged mezcal from the same Oaxaca house behind the brand's espadín joven, rested in oak barrels after distillation rather than bottled straight off the still. That barrel time softens mezcal's usual sharp smoke into something rounder, adding vanilla and light oak sweetness without burying the underlying agave character. Expect smoke and roasted agave carried through from the base spirit, now joined by vanilla, caramel and a smoother mouthfeel than a joven mezcal delivers. It's built for drinkers who like mezcal's smoke but want some of whiskey's barrel-driven roundness alongside it.
How to drink Santo Gusano Reposado
Sip it neat in a small glass — the barrel time makes it approachable enough for mezcal newcomers, but it still rewards slow, deliberate tasting over ice-cold gulping. A little orange and sal de gusano on the side is the traditional touch if you want one.
