About this bottle
FEW Spirits was one of the first legal distilleries to open in Evanston, Illinois since Prohibition — the town that was headquarters of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, which is where the brand's name and dry sense of humor come from (FEW stands for founder Paul Hletko's great-grandfather, Frank Erwin Wright, but the WCTU joke is very much intentional). This American Straight Whiskey runs a bourbon-style mash of roughly 70% corn, 20% rye, and 10% malted barley, aged in new charred American oak and bottled at 93 proof. Expect corn sweetness and vanilla up front with a bit more grain-forward character than a Kentucky bourbon, since it's labeled straight whiskey rather than straight bourbon.
How to drink FEW American Straight Whiskey
Take it neat or with a splash of water to start, since 93 proof has enough heat to benefit from a little opening up. It also makes a solid Manhattan if you want a slightly grainier backbone than bourbon gives.
