Peloton De La Muerte Joven Maguey Espadin 1 liter

Peloton de la Muerte is an Oaxacan mezcal made from espadin, the workhorse agave behind most of what leaves the state. Joven means unaged, so nothing sits between you and the agave: the roast, the fermentation and the still do all the talking. The nose opens with wood smoke and cooked agave, the palate runs green and mineral with lime peel, black pepper and a little roasted pineapple, and the finish is dry and ashy in the way good espadin should be. Sip it neat at room temperature alongside orange and salt, or use the litre bottle to build smoky palomas.
