About this bottle
Santa Teresa 1796 is a Venezuelan rum from the Hacienda Santa Teresa estate, blended using the solera method — a fractional aging system where younger rum is progressively blended into a stack of barrels holding older stock, so no single bottle carries one fixed age, though components run up to 35 years. Santa Teresa has distilled continuously since 1796 and is also known for its Proyecto Alcatraz social program rehabilitating at-risk youth through the distillery. Expect dried fruit, oak, and baking spice on the nose, a smooth, rich palate of caramel and toasted nuts, and a long, warm finish. A well-regarded sipping rum with genuine production history behind it.
How to drink Santa Teresa 1796
Sip it neat or over a single large cube — the solera depth carries plenty of character on its own, though it also makes an excellent Espresso Martini variant with dark rum instead of vodka.
