Amrut Peated is a single malt whisky from Amrut Distilleries in Bangalore, India's pioneering malt whisky producer. Unlike the standard Amrut single malt, which uses Indian-grown barley, the Peated expression is made with peated malt imported from Scotland, since India has no native peat bogs — smoked to roughly 35ppm phenol. It's matured in ex-bourbon casks, and Bangalore's hot, humid climate accelerates maturation dramatically compared to Scotland, so a few years here does the work of a much older Scotch. Expect smoky, peaty aromatics over honey, vanilla, and oak, with a smooth, creamy palate and a long, smoky finish. It's a compelling, tropically-matured alternative to Islay peat for drinkers curious about non-Scottish smoke.

How to drink Amrut Peated

Try it neat first — the tropical maturation gives it more oak influence per year than its age suggests, so a splash of water can round out the smoke if it feels sharp. Good for Islay drinkers looking for something different.
