Balcones Mirador Eclipse Single Malt 750ml

Balcones Mirador Eclipse is a Texas single malt from the Waco distillery that did more than anyone to prove American single malt could stand on its own. Balcones works with malted barley and matures in the brutal Texas heat, where barrels breathe hard and whisky takes on colour and weight in a fraction of the time a Scottish warehouse needs. The result runs rich rather than delicate: dried fruit, honey and toasted grain on the nose, a palate of dark caramel, cocoa and stone fruit, and a long finish with oak spice behind it. Pour it neat and give it ten minutes in the glass before judging it.
