Buchanan's Green Seal is a blended Scotch whisky from the house James Buchanan founded in the 1880s, a name that has spent more than a century built around smooth, sweet blends rather than smoky ones. Blended Scotch marries malt whisky from several distilleries with lighter grain whisky, and the Buchanan's style leans toward honeyed softness with only a suggestion of Highland smoke behind it. The nose is honey, dried apple and vanilla; the palate brings malt sweetness, orange peel and that gentle wisp of smoke; the finish is smooth, medium and warm. Drink it neat, over ice, or in a highball with soda and a lemon twist.
