Casa Maestri Coffee is a coffee liqueur from the Mexican house better known for its tequilas, built around roasted coffee and sugar rather than anything subtle. The nose is straightforward and inviting: dark roast beans, cocoa and brown sugar. The palate is sweet and thick, with espresso, bittersweet chocolate and a little vanilla, and the finish carries the roasted bitterness that keeps it from cloying. It is a mixing bottle first. Shake it into an espresso martini, pour it over ice with cold brew, or float it on a Mexican coffee. It also works straight from the freezer in a small glass after dinner.
