Equiano Light Gift Box (green)

Equiano Light is the pale expression in the Equiano range, a blend of rum from Foursquare in Barbados and Gray's in Mauritius, named for the writer and abolitionist Olaudah Equiano. Where the darker bottlings lean on wood, this one is built for clarity and mixing: the range is made without added sugar or spice, so what reaches the glass is cane, fermentation and cask rather than a sweetened finish. Expect a nose of fresh cane, green banana and light vanilla, a clean palate of coconut, citrus and soft brown sugar, and a crisp, dry finish. Shake it into a daiquiri, build a mojito, or lengthen it with soda and lime.
