Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest is a limited Highland single malt built on an old idea: long before peat became standard, maltsters dried their barley over whatever the surrounding land provided. Here the barley was kilned with woodland botanicals, which gives the whisky an aromatic, resinous edge rather than smoke. Glenmorangie's tall stills keep the base spirit light enough to carry it without being buried. The nose is pine, mint and juniper over honey; the palate is sweet and herbal with vanilla, orchard fruit and a green forest-floor note; the finish runs long and faintly medicinal. Drink it neat and give it real time in the glass.
