Isle of Raasay Cask Share is the distillery's programme for bottling single casks out of its own warehouse, and this is one of them: an unpeated Raasay single malt matured in an ex-Bordeaux red wine cask, number 19/527. Raasay is a young distillery on a small Hebridean island, working with both peated and unpeated spirit and an unusually varied set of wood. A red wine cask pushes barley toward darker fruit, so expect raspberry and dried cherry on the nose, a palate of malt, plum and clove, and a drying, faintly tannic finish. Drink it neat, with a little water on the side.
