Jameson Irish Whiskey is a triple-distilled blended Irish whiskey from the house John Jameson founded on Dublin's Bow Street in 1780; production moved to Midleton, County Cork after Bow Street closed in 1975. The blend combines pot still and grain whiskeys matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, with the extra distillation run smoothing the spirit before it reaches wood. On the nose it's light and grassy with a touch of vanilla; the palate is smooth, sweet wood with a gentle nutty edge; the finish is short and easy rather than showy. It's the whiskey most people learn Irish whiskey on, and a safe pour for a guest who doesn't drink whiskey often.
