Jefferson's Reserve Pritchard Hill is a Kentucky straight bourbon given a second maturation in Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Pritchard Hill, one of Napa Valley's steepest and most sought-after hillside sites. This is the single barrel expression, so every bottle carries the character of one cask rather than a blend of many. The wine influence shows up as dark fruit rather than sweetness: black cherry and cassis on the nose, then a palate of caramel, baking spice and dried berry over the bourbon's oak backbone. The finish is dry and tannic, with cocoa and toasted wood. Pour it neat, or over one large cube alongside a steak.
