Jefferson's Twin Oak Very Rare is a custom barrel programme bourbon — Kentucky straight bourbon matured in barrels built with additional oak staves, so the whiskey meets far more wood surface than a standard barrel would ever give it. This is Barrel 41, bottled on its own, which means what is in this bottle came from one cask and will not be repeated exactly. Extra oak contact tends to push a bourbon darker and sweeter: expect caramel, vanilla and heavy toasted oak on the nose, a palate of brown sugar, baking spice and char, and a long, dry finish. Drink it neat, or over a single large cube.
