Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2023 is the latest release in the small independent Islay distillery's annual sherry cask series, a single malt Scotch whisky distilled from Scottish barley and matured entirely in hand-selected oloroso sherry casks. Kilchoman is one of Islay's youngest working distilleries, farming much of its own barley, and Loch Gorm represents the sherry-forward end of its range compared to the brand's standard ex-bourbon-matured bottlings. Expect notes of dark fruit, caramel, cedarwood, tan leather, cigar smoke, and heather honey on the nose, with raisins, dates, gooey toffee, cinnamon biscuit, and a hint of floral smoke on the palate, finishing long and rich.
