From the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull comes Ledaig 18 Year Limited Release Batch #2, a peated island single malt Scotch that pairs coastal smoke with sherry-cask depth. Ledaig is the distillery's heavily peated make, and eighteen years of aging mellows that smoke into something rounder — sweet peat, brine, and sherried dark fruit on the nose, creamy toffee and raisin cut by black pepper on the palate, and a long, gently spiced finish. Batch releases vary slightly from bottling to bottling, which is part of the draw for the drinkers who chase them. A fireside whisky through and through: pour it neat and let ten minutes in the glass pull the fruit forward.
