Mackmyra Svensk Ek Swedish Single Malt 700 ml

Mackmyra Svensk Ek is a Swedish single malt from a distillery that built its reputation on local ingredients. The name means Swedish oak, and part of the maturation happens in casks coopered from slow-grown Swedish trees. That wood is denser than American oak and pushes the whisky toward spice rather than sweetness. Expect vanilla, dried apple and a thread of pine resin on the nose, then honeyed barley, ginger and toasted cereal across the palate, finishing dry with black pepper and a faint smoky edge. Bottled at 46.1 percent, so it takes a drop of water without falling apart. Drink it neat in a copita, or over one large cube.
