About this bottle
Mestizo Artesanal Añejo is a mezcal from Oaxaca, made using traditional pit-roasting and small-batch pot distillation, then aged in oak for about a year to earn the añejo designation. A one-year rest is relatively brief for añejo mezcal, so more of the raw, smoky agave character survives than in a longer-aged bottling. Expect roasted agave and smoke on the nose, an earthy palate with light oak and vanilla starting to show, and a smoky, moderately warm finish. It sits closer to the brand's unaged expressions than a heavily wood-driven mezcal.
How to drink Mestizo Artesanal Añejo
Sip it neat in a small glass — a year of oak is enough to round the edges without asking for ice or a mixer.

Questions about this bottle
Is one year a long aging period for mezcal?
It's relatively brief for an añejo — enough to round the spirit slightly while keeping most of the raw, smoky agave character.
