Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque is the house's prestige cuvee, sold in the hand-decorated anemone bottle designed by Emile Galle, and this is the 2018 vintage, drawn from a single year rather than blended across several. Chardonnay leads the blend, which is where Belle Epoque gets its lightness and its floral signature. The nose is white flowers, citrus zest and a little brioche from time on the lees, the palate is fine and precise with white peach, lemon and almond, and the finish is long, dry and mineral. Serve it cold but not frozen, in a white wine glass rather than a flute, on its own or with oysters.
