About this bottle
DESCRIPTION
Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Brut 2018 is the house's prestige vintage Champagne — the one in the bottle hand-painted with white anemones, a design that traces back to Émile Gallé in 1902. The liquid matches the flowers: this is a Chardonnay-led, floral style, 50% Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs grand crus with 45% Pinot Noir and a little Meunier for depth. Six years on the lees builds the brioche and almond character, while a low 7g dosage keeps it dry and taut, closer to extra-brut than most. 2018 was a warm, generous vintage, so it drinks ripe — white peach, pear, and citrus over chalk and honeysuckle. It's a vintage bottling, made only in strong years. Serve it cold as an aperitif, or with oysters, scallops, or roast chicken.
TASTING NOTES
Color: Pale gold with green glints.
Nose: Honeysuckle and white peach, pear and citrus, with brioche underneath.
Palate: Creamy and fine-beaded — white peach and apple, almond and toast, over a chalky, dry core.
Finish: Long and clean, chalk and toasted almond lingering.
HOW TO DRINK
Serve it cold, 8–10°C, in a white-wine glass rather than a thin flute so the floral aromatics open up. As an aperitif it's dry enough to wake up the palate; at the table it stands up to oysters, scallops, lobster, or roast chicken. Give it a minute in the glass — six years on the lees means there's more here than a quick toast catches.
