Pikesville Straight Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey bottled at 110 proof by Heaven Hill. Once a Maryland-style label, it was revived as a six-year, high-proof straight rye built on a mash of 51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley. The nose leads with dusty cocoa and a thread of oaky smoke; the palate turns dry and spicy, with honeyed rye and clove, before a finish of soft vanilla and baking spice. At 110 proof it carries real weight without drinking hot, which is why it stands up so well in a Manhattan or Sazerac.
