Pinhook Tiz Rye Time is the rye side of the brand's vertical program, named after a racehorse the way every Pinhook bottle is, and this release carries five years in oak. Pinhook blends toward a profile each year rather than repeating a recipe, so the rye stays recognisable from release to release while the age moves underneath it. The nose is dill, caramel and dried orange, the palate is peppery and bright with clove, mint, brown sugar and firm oak, and the finish is dry, spicy and medium-long. It is stiff enough for a sazerac and clean enough to drink neat over a single cube on a cold night.
