Angels Envy Rye 375ml

Angel's Envy Rye is a rye whiskey finished in Caribbean rum casks, which is an unusual thing to do to rye and the reason this bottle does not taste like its neighbours on the shelf. The rum barrels push sweetness into a grain that is naturally dry and peppery, and the result sits somewhere between a rye whiskey and a dessert. This is the half-bottle format. The nose is maple, dried banana and rye spice. The palate is sweet and thick up front, with brown sugar, baked fruit and vanilla, before pepper and mint arrive on the back, and the finish is long and warming. Drink it neat, or use it in a Manhattan that needs no extra sugar.
