Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho&Co Saperavi Rose 750ml

Koncho & Co Saperavi Rose comes from Georgia, where wine has been made in buried clay qvevri for thousands of years. Saperavi is a teinturier grape, red in the flesh as well as the skin, so even a short maceration pulls deep colour and this bottling sits closer to pale ruby than pastel pink. Expect wild strawberry and pomegranate on the nose, then a dry, savoury palate of red plum, cranberry and the faint earthy edge that qvevri wines tend to carry. The finish is crisp and lightly tannic rather than fruity-sweet. Serve it cold with grilled lamb, khachapuri, or anything cooked over charcoal.
