Sin Pena Joven Maguey Espadin 750 ml

Sin Pena Joven is a mezcal made from maguey espadin and bottled joven, meaning unaged and straight from the still, which is how most mezcal is meant to be drunk. Espadin is the workhorse agave of the category, cultivated rather than wild, and it gives mezcal its recognisable balance of sweetness and smoke. The nose is roasted agave, wood smoke and green herbs; the palate is sweet cooked agave, citrus peel and pepper, with the smoke running underneath rather than over the top; the finish is dry, mineral and warming. Sip it neat at room temperature from a small clay copita, or use it to smoke up a paloma.
